Terrible Lizards Collectibles: Amber, Tapes & NG+

What you can collect in Terrible Lizards, which achievement each set feeds, and why amber matters most: it unlocks the New Game Plus modifiers.

Verified Applies to v1.0.9 (PC) 9 sources

Terrible Lizards has four collectible types: amber, audio tapes, notes and stuffed animals. Each full set is an achievement, and collecting everything is Hoarder Official. Amber also unlocks New Game Plus modifiers — one for every fourth amber — after you beat the game Dev.

NotesWritten notes and letters, some illustratedPterry's Scrapbook0.2%

The Steam store lists “tapes, notes, and recordings” as the environmental-storytelling collectibles Official. None of them are required to finish the story Dev.

Amber

Amber is the collectible with a gameplay reward. The lead developer confirmed that New Game Plus “has four different modifiers… tied to the amber collectibles, with a new modifier unlocking for every fourth amber you find” Dev. Four modifiers × four amber means at least 16 amber in the game; the exact total has not been published, so we do not state one.

Amber tends to sit just off the main route — on upper paths and side ledges that reward exploring with parkour. One community guide notes an amber detour on the gift shop's upper route in Level 1 Community. A Steam player thread titled “Collected all the amber.” confirms the full set is achievable at v1.0.x Community.

New Game Plus modifiers

NG+ unlocks after you beat the game. Modifiers can be combined — for example slippery surfaces plus “die if you stop” Dev.

AMBER ×4?Body-cam

Changes the visual presentation to a body-camera look.

AMBER ×8?Slippery

Every surface becomes slippery.

AMBER ×12?Keep moving

You die if you stop moving for more than a couple of seconds.

AMBER ×16?Low gravity

The “playground” modifier — can break sequence and skip intended routes.

Which modifier comes at which amber threshold has not been officially stated; the “×4 / ×8 …” labels only show that each needs four more amber.

Audio tapes

The writer improvised each tape in character, then transcribed and edited it for the voice actors — which is why they ramble and stammer like real recordings. The developers' favourites are the “Campfire” and “Birds vs. Dinosaurs” tapes Dev. Find every one for Audiophile.

Notes

Notes cover the people who worked at Dalton's Dinos and their view of events. A few have margin doodles — trains, fish — by artist Eden Dev. Finding all of them unlocks Pterry's Scrapbook, named after Pterry, a character the team added to its mascot and creature line-up midway through production Dev. There is also a letter in Jordan's car at the very start Community.

Stuffed animals

Stuffed dinosaurs are picked up and placed on pedestals — the achievement is You Go Here. The first is in the tent in the reception area; a plush pedestal also appears on the late route to Cavern B Community. The demo added a “plush tutorial popup”, so the game explains the mechanic when you find the first one Dev.

Watch out A launch-week Steam thread asks whether the plushies achievement is bugged Community. Not addressed in patch 1.0.9.

The dino flashlight

Not a collectible, but one of the most searched items. In Level 1 you win a token at the Dilo Dash exhibit and redeem it for the dinosaur-shaped flashlight; you need it in the gift shop basement Community. The developers would like to make it real merch one day Dev.

Two days after launch nobody has published a verified, complete location list. We will not invent one. Confirmed spots so far:

  • Stuffed animal — tent in the reception area (Level 1) Community
  • Amber — gift shop upper route detour (Level 1) Community
